The Dix Hut (2928m). Magnificently Situated Beneath Mt Blanc de Cheilon North Face

The pleasant easy 'La Luette' (2548m) beyond

The Descent of the Pigne d'Arolla East Ridge, Via the Vignettes Hut

With the Matterhorn & Dent d'Herens centre left and L'Eveque on the right. A magnificent alpine panorama.

The Vignettes Hut (3160m) With the Dent Blanche Beyond

The Pigne can be climbed via the Dix or the Vignettes Huts. The Vignettes is higher, the summit is easier and the snow remains better for longer on the North & West facing descent towards the Dix. However this is a long descent and many teams make the traverse via the Dix to give a grand 2 day high alpine journey.

Summit of the Pigne d'Arolla!

Team summit celebrations with magnificent views from Mt Blanc in the West, Matterhorn to the East, Ecrins & Paradiso to the South and Bernese Oberland to the North.
