Aiguille d'Orny (3167m) SW Face, 200m, D / F5a

The Initial Easy Ramp To Access The Aiguille d'Orny SW Face

A swift 30 min walk & final scramble gives access to a pleasant spacious ledge with a single bolt above it at the base of first main pitch, a 4a broken wall leading up in to a short final groove and a bolted belay at the base of the fine 4b diedre.

Planning The Route From Belay R2

Looking up to the superb slabs & walls higher on the route and characterising this impressive granite pinnacle. A great feature to climb!

Impressive Pinnacle Belay - R5

This is accessed by a beautiful steep 5b wall pitch, great climbing. There is an easy but loose scrambling link pitch from this belay in to the base of the 3C wall leading up to the final tough 5a corner crack pitch and summit wall.

Aiguille d'Orny Summit (3167m)

A great view point and excellent finale to the route. There is also a fully equipped bolt abseil belay to access the descent terrace from where a loose walking & scrambling descent back to the hut path can be made. In time for tea at the hut!

The Summit Abseil - Great Position Above The Glacier d'Orny

The glacier below provided the route for early the next morning to access the Trient plateau and march across towards the French border and South Ridge of the Aiguille Purtscheller. An excellent link up with this route for a fine couple of days middle & high mountain alpine rock climbing.
