Schreckhorn 4078m

Sunrise Over The Schreckhorn

The fine south west ridge route and excellent south pillar remain in the shade as another high summer sun rises over the Oberland. The Schreckhorn is an appealing but remote and difficult 4000m peak with all the routes being long & committing ascents. The 'Voie Normale' is the 1630m, AD+ ascent via the SW Ridge from the Schreckhorn hut. The hut approach itself presents a physical but scenic 4-5 hour ascent.
