2016 Off Piste & Ski Mountain Skills Courses

Team Ski Touring Trip To Complement The Off Piste Coaching, Avalanche & Glacier Travel Training

That brings to a close this seasons series of courses run in conjunction with Alison Culshaw and 'Off Piste Performance'. This has been another successful year with every single course place, bar one filled for the season. Teams have enjoyed & appreciated this powerful blend of technical off piste coaching, avalanche awareness training, glacier travel skills and route finding. A great 5 day package giving an excellent grounding in skills fundamental to those heading off piste or touring without a Guide.

This seasons off piste ski venues have included the Chamonix favourites of Le Tour, Grands Montets, Brevent & Flegere as well Les Houches for the stormy days - and for the biggest of powder days, when the avalanche risk was high, St. Gervais & Combloux a little lower down the Arve Valley.

The courses have also ski toured in Les Contamines, Just over the Swiss border en route to the Rhone Valley as well as down the Valle d'Aoste on the Italian side of Mont Blanc. Good variety of geography as well as terrain and training opportunities accordingly.

To develop the programme further for next year we will be running the same 2 standard course winter weeks in late Jan & Feb 2016 as well as a spring standard course and a spring 4 day advanced course at a 1:4 ratio. This advanced course is a great opportunity for folk who have previously attended our standard course or already have good touring experience and strong off piste skills, to progress to the next level of off piste in steeper terrain and start tackling more challenging ski mountaineering itineraries.

It was fantastic to receive such enthusiastic & even inspired feedback from this years courses and this has certainly inspired us to keep passionately providing these sociable, informative & challenging weeks. Check out just a few bits of feedback at the base of this page and visit the guest book for more.

Here are the full course dates & fees for next season with the all remaining detail on the dedicated course page below. Please get in touch soon to book your place and we hope to ski with you in 2016, Rob.

Feedback From This Years Courses...

Hi Rob & Alison, Thanks for a brilliant weeks skiing & some great tuition. My legs have just about recovered. I hope you've enjoyed another week of powder skiing!
Thanks, Martin

Rob, thanks very much for your dynamic and enthusiastic teaching on the Off Piste/Ski Mountaineering course 23-27th Feb 2015.
It was a hugely enjoyable week, and I learned a huge amount in improving my skiing and other skills.
Each day had something different to offer, and I will look back on the course with great memories! I look forward to practising on skins in the future and becoming a bit faster!
Best wishes

Andy, Feb 2015

I don't need to say that Alison was great, again, but is far too polite about my shortcomings!!
Chris couldn't stop raving about how she's helped him too, and we got lots of tips from him which were clearly handed down, with his own particluar twist! Which was good. After day one with Chris he suggested making some notes about what we'd picked up. I got through three pages of skiing and avalanche tips, and there's more I could write.
All in all, the best four days concentrated teaching I could wish for. Thanks, Robert.
