UK Scrambling & Mountaineering
The hills of Snowdonia, The Lake District and Scottish Highlands provide both a fantastic arena for the dedicated mountain scrambler and an exacting training ground for the aspiring mountaineer. We offer both training and guiding to suit your requirements in these areas. So whether you want to experience lots of quality scrambling in preperation for a trip to the Alps, complete Skye's Black Cuillin Ridge or learn how to navigate we can arrange something for you.
We can cater for all your mountaineering aspirations from introducing complete beginners to tackling more advanced and committing scrambling routes with sections of easy climbing.
All our instructional courses focus on getting the basics right. This is achieved through incorporating the following skills into a mountain journey where they are applied and practised in context.
- Movement skills in scrambling and hill walking
- Ropework for the mountaineer. Simple and effective techniques using a minimum of kit
- Navigation training including GPS and altimeter use
- Selection and use of anchors for securing a partner
- Route selection and planning your day
We don’t spend the day talking in a static training environment but keep moving, finding new terrain and taking in a scrambling route and summit. We can incorporate an overnight camp or bivvi to give a real mountaineering feel to a journey through the hills.
Perhaps you want the experience of being guided up some of the UK’s finest scrambling and mountaineering routes. We specialise in providing this in the best 3 mountaineering areas in the UK. Snowdonia, Skye and Lochaber. Contact us for courses in other areas.
