Latest News & 2027 Course Availability
We have made some changes to the way we run our Mont Blanc courses in 2027 and here is a quick summary of these developments along with a full list of training and summit programmes below.
Seasonal Preferences & Changes To Our Courses
- Due to the effects of climate change, increasing risk of stone fall in the Grand Couloir in high summer and the popularity of the huts, we have continued to move our courses towards the appealing fringes of the summer season.
- Climbing in late May to early June, September and October may be tougher than in high summer but the rewards are significant, check out our recent articles on climbing Mont Blanc in May & October below.
- Plus our article on using winter rooms and climbing outside the high summer season here.
- For ski mountaineers there are also opportunities to ski the mountain earlier in the spring as well as for very fit, well organised and extremely well kitted out mountaineers to attempt the mountain in late autumn or early winter.
- We require all our Mont Blanc guests to have some existing mountaineering experience in addition to the existing requirement for great fitness. This is to give our teams a greater degree of safety and style for each ascent we make. This also helps you to make the most of your good fitness without the stress of learning new skills in an already extreme environment!
- We thus encourage all our guests for Mont Blanc to either do some of our UK training weekends or climb some other alpine peaks and routes with us first.
- Hut bookings are increasingly difficult to obtain for the Tete Rousse and Gouter bookings. We take your course bookings in the summer / autumn prior to the year you wish to climb. Then we aim to confirm the hut bookings in December – January. In the event we don’t manage to obtain these, we will offer you a refund on your deposit or you can proceed with the booking and we will aim to obtain the necessary hut bookings, or similar, via the waiting list system.
- For private teams, who manage to get their own hut bookings at the public opening of the reservations website in early January, please get in touch and we can help with private guiding around your chosen dates.

The last few steps…to the summit of Mont Blanc, in early autumn.
Climb Mont Blanc With High Mountain Guides…
- Our 6 day courses generally feature a 3 day training and acclimatisation phase, often with another major summit attempt
- For example you can choose a training climb featuring either the Gran Paradiso, Weissmies or Lagginhorn as well our very early season option & 3 day Mont Blanc training course

Good fun scrambling high on the classic South Ridge of the Weissmeis with the Almageller Hut and Dry Hornli Ridge in shade far below…A fine route, and good preparation & training for the Gouter Ridge on Mont Blanc and the Hornli Ridge on the Matterhorn.
- We also run some Mont Blanc warm up phases that feature more technical terrain on a 1:1 or 1:2 guiding ratio and these give a great experience to those thinking about climbing the Matterhorn in the future.

Alpinism above the clouds, on the traverse of the Aiguilles d’Entreves. Preparing and acclimatising for Mont Blanc whilst training for a future Matterhorn ascent at the same time. A great combination!
- Our courses generally also feature a rest day between the training and summit periods, allowing you to recuperate, relax and enjoy some low altitude time in Chamonix before heading back in to the high mountains for the summit attempt
- We also generally climb early in the week and aim to avoid the busy Saturday night in huts and classic later in the week summit schedules. Combining this with the early and late season ascents often means the mountain & huts are slightly less busy than in high summer. But event then, don’t expect it to be quiet on Mont Blanc!
Late Spring, Early Summer & Autumn 2027 Course Availability
