Owen Samuel’s life revolves around the mountains. He loves the changing seasons and with them the new challenges the mountains offer. Whether it’s rock or ice climbing at home in Llanberis or alpinism, off piste skiing or ski mountaineering in the Alps, Owen is out there having fun.
Owen has a long and dedicated track record both in his personal mountaineering and his commitment to mountain guiding and training. From studying for an outdoor education degree at Liverpool University to serving an apprenticeship at Plas-y-Brenin (The English & Welsh Mountain Training Centre) to many seasons guiding in the Scottish Highlands in winter; Owen has maintained a strong passion for providing adventurous guiding and high quality mountain training. Owen has also maintained his high levels of enthusiasm for hard mountaineering over the last 15 years or so with some fine ascents in the Himalaya (2nd ascent of the North Face of Kwangde in Nepal), Patagonia, Alaska, India, Iceland, Norway the Alps in Winter….and, much closer to home as an ever devoted pilgrim to the brilliance of Welsh rock climbing.
With his wife Rocio Owen runs the guiding business Ibex Guides who you will find on the high street in Llanberis between Pete’s Eats and V12…An ideal position in the crucible of British rock climbing!
