Perfect weather and snow conditions prevailed in the Aravis and around the Mont Blanc Range today.  Beautiful mountain weather and great snow cover giving stunning views around the Ranges, here from the Aravis looking East on to the West side of the Mont Blanc Range.

Many teams were out ski touring & snow shoeing above Sallanches – Burzier and even with the parking here being below 1000m there were no problems skiing from just above the car park.  There are lots of options here for very pleasant easy tours through the meadows and woods up to the more open terrain around the Chalet Mayères and Refuge Tournieux.

Mont Blanc Views

Ski touring journey to the Chalet de Mayères with the stunning west side of the Mont Blanc Massif beyond

A few teams had gone on to steeper terrain above Mayeres heading up the slopes at the base of the impressive North East Face of the Quatre Tete and there was some great snow here and fresh tracks leading back down the North East facing bowl under the Arête des Saix.

Fresh tracks in great powder snow at 1300m in the Aravis today

Tracks and teams also touring in the wide valley leading up to the Col de Niard & Cabane du Petite Patre.  Superb touring and off piste conditions also reported from Combloux including the classic Petit Croise Baulet.  Also reports of excellent conditions around the Aravis including La Tournette & Pointe d’Andey.

In Chamonix many – many teams have been enjoying the great snow conditions and weather.  It was cold this morning though with -20C at the Grands Montets with a light breeze.  Chilly!  Some great snow and fresh tracks for teams skiing the Vallee Blanche also.  Generally excellent conditions for much of the Alps, with one more day of good high mountain weather on the cards tomorrow before plenty more snow arriving in the mountains on Thursday.  Bon Ski.

We have places available on our intro ski touring weekend in Chamonix this Sat & Sun for a weekend in the Italian Val Feret and touring around the Rifugio Bonatti.
